It has been a long-lasting war of the gaming consoles between Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. The dawn of the next-gen gaming console era is here. It is that time of the year when fans will have to decide which one of the new consoles to buy. The two contenders for this latest installment of console war are Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The Series S variant of Xbox is out of contention for its lack of many things from those two consoles mentioned earlier. So, which one to buy?

The Price
Some people will look into this matter before deciding which one of the next-gen gaming console choices to buy. In terms of the official price, the PS5 is slightly more expensive than the Series X. The disc version has its price at $499.99 while the digital version at $399.99. On the other hand, the Series X comes at $499. The difference is not that much at the price tag. Unfortunately, there will be many more things to differentiate those consoles on the inside.

The Specs
The current-gen console of Microsoft has its title of the most powerful gaming console without a doubt. It may continue with the Series X, at least on paper. It comes with a 12 teraflops GPU that runs at a 1,825GHz speed with 3328 shaders in 52 compute units. The CPU is an eight-core AMD Zen 2 with its speed between 3.6GHz and 3.8GHz. This console supports 8K and 4K resolution. The 120Hz refresh rate available for the 4K only. The RAM is a 16GB GDDR6 that comes alongside a 1TB NVMe SSD.

On the other hand, PS5, the next-gen gaming console from Sony, offers an eight-core AMD Ryzen that runs at 3.5GHz. The GPU comes with 10.28 teraflops strength that runs at 2.23GHz with 36 compute units. The RAM is the same as the Xbox with 16GB GDDR6. It comes with a support to 8K resolution and 4K at 120Hz. Yet, the best bet for today is to expect at least 4K at 60Hz with the usual setup that most people have at home.

The Games
The release of the next-gen gaming console will be nothing without new games for it. So, it is a little bit unfortunate that Xbox has no launch titles to accompany the machine. Halo Infinite is no longer the exclusive title launch. That leaves the few games such as Dirt 5 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for the Xbox. On the other hand, the PS5 comes with a pair of exclusives that include Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls.

The Availability
It is rather unfortunate that the global pandemic affects the production and distribution of the next-gen gaming console. The PS5 suffers a greater consequence than the Series X with high demands and low supplies. Many people even complain about scalpers who are buying PS5 in bulk to sell it at higher prices. So far, the Series X and S from Microsoft are easier to find at the moment. So, which one of those new consoles to buy?
